No Place to Go

Why would he do it
this madness
Standing in the cold and heat
dealing other people's dreams
A life at immediate risk
kept or taken daily

The answer may lie easy
as the slouch of manliness
in this boy
Or as uneasy as the eyes
flirting down side streets
peeling walls and cars and faces

This madness is uncommon skill
Rising of cream, scholarship of streets
Will to live and love, to die
a notch above the rest
Honor the courage
with no place else to go
