Death Poems

As long as man has been able to scratch on a rock, he's been fascinated by death and has written about it. Here, under this austere title, you'll find some of my own thoughts . . . most of them on the lighthearted side, because death seems to me to be nothing more than the last great adventure.

Run down the list and see if anything catches your eye . . .

  • Astonished Moment
A peek at that concern we all share, that the metaphysical rug will be pulled from under us unexpectedly.
  • I Looked Away
Wouldn't it be great if it was as easy as just looking away when Death taps us on the shoulder? Rather a cryptic chap.
  • Bottomless Cup
Based on and an extension of I Looked Away, when Death gets a tad more conversational.
  • Maybe Got it Wrong
My dog's got a great chance to get into Heaven (whatever Heaven might be), but as for myself, I'm not so sure.
  • Old Dogs
Remembering the circumstances of my brother's death from AIDS.
  • Perfect Timing
The bizarre circumstance of death in the French Alps and a frozen re-emergence.
  • Sarajevo
Written after a trip to that lovely, war-ravaged city in 1997 just after the cease-fire.
  • These Things are Salted
Endless, random future death by happenstance as Bosnia rediscovers its mines . . . one by one.
