Poem: A Prayer for Rain

Finding a place of personal magic and hoping it won't change.

A Prayer for Rain

A reflective thought in quiet times
Progress not being quite so much
a matter of things accomplished,
as fulfillments promised to myself,
unwrapped carefully like cherished gifts

A world of expectation washed away,
permission granted to drain the pond
New waters curl around these rocks,
while slowly, ever so slowly,
sharp edges wear and smooth to fit

This gentle wearing away takes time
It comes no faster than it comes,
leaving me to dream a while,
with hopes the waters don’t recede
and meanwhile pray for rain
